Stanchion support bases/brackets

Hello
On a 1040, there is a safety rail stanchion directly above the aft cabin. Mine is leaking rainwater. How do you remove the stanchion base so I can refix with butyl tape?

Hello Colin,
as I am not sure about the translation of safety rail stanchion, maybe you should post a picture.
But, in a first time, you may find the answer in this article : clubfeeling1090.fr/pont/remplacement-pied-chandelier

Hye
I found out a translator providing reasonable correct translation : www.yachter.fr/dictionnaire-maritime-francais-anglais/
Stanchion is translated by chandelier, for marine use, however chandelier in french could be translated, as well, by candle stick
Rail de fargue : toe rail is it what you mean by safety rail ?

Hi Collin,
You can easily access the stanchion foot from inside the port aft cabin. Mine was broken and I simply gently removed the cabin ceiling material on about 3 to 4 inches, just enough to reach the four nuts.
Indeed, the job is easier if carried out by two persons, but I did it alone.
Do not forget to fill in the hole/thread with SIKA 11FC or SIKA 291i or similar marine sealant (3M 5200).
Then you can glue the ceiling liner with the remaining sealant, and you're done.
Enjoy !
