Hi Lasse,
there is often a valve at the output of the diesel tank.
You can close this valve when openning your water separator : gas-oil will stay on the pipe between tank and valve.
In my case I have added a small pump ( like those used for cars or outboard engines ) directly on the pipe between this output tank valve and the water separator : after having changed the filter I open the screw at the top of the separator and I pump until the gas oil reach the top. Then I close it, open the engine filter and pump again until I see the gas oil at the top of this filer.
After having closed it I can start the engine.
